The Essence of Yoga

February 19, 2010 by Lightwaves

Swami RadhanandaWhat is Yoga? In this Satsang talk, Swami Radhananda says the essence of Yoga emerges from the hidden desire to know, to understand and to realize who we really are.

Yoga has to be experienced, it has to be lived…Yogic practices are the science of building the foundation, and progressing along your evolution to that place of self-realization, meeting with consciousness on that other level.”

As you listen to this video, Swami Radhananda suggests asking yourself the following question:

Look for the essence of Yoga, what is it like? How does it draw me in? What am I hearing that’s familiar to me already?

Write what comes forward in your journal and if you are inspired share your insights with others.  Sharing our reflections is another valuable tool in the process of getting to know ourselves.  Listen to yourself, each other and learn and then share with us here on Lightwaves!

  1. Once again Sw Radhananda inspires me to keep it simple and go back to what I know.

  2. The feelings of peace and completion pour from Swami Radhananda’s face and words like prana from the sun.
