Happy New Year from Lightwaves!Happy New Year Everyone! The Lightwaves team would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our faithful viewers and over 500 subscribers for your support in 2009. We have endeavored throughout the year to continue expanding our on-line presence, and are now reaching approximately 1200 viewers monthly, with an exciting grand total of  70,000 views in this past year.

Creating connections and building a social network of people affiliated with the Ashram and Swami Radha’s teachings is the primary intention of Lightwaves. You can be attuned to the happenings of Ashram life, projects we are working on, new articles, archival material, and more by staying connected to our inspiring and evolving Lightwaves blog. We would like to express a special thank-you to all of the writers, teachers, artists, musicians, yogis and yoginis who shared their stories with us this year. If you have an idea for an article that you would like to submit to Lightwaves, all inquiries can be sent to:

ClaireG2009 – A YEAR IN REVIEW: Lightwaves has evolved through many transitions and karma yogis throughout this past year.  Multiple editors have cultivated an on-line blog to be proud of through offering their own unique skills and expression. The year 2009 started out with Claire Gilmore at the helm (a YDC 2008 grad) bringing in a fresh and diligent energy to the Lightwaves team. Followed by the exuberant output of Darishma Parmar (a YDC 2009 grad), who’s collaborative leadership style enabled a fruitful summer season of article submissions. Entering into the fall season, Sandra Hindson took over as editor and has brought many years of experience and finesse to the publishing process. A sincere thank you to Cierra Dahlquist for her assistance in the summer to fall transition.

Our media intern Andrew Baerthel has been refining the art of multi-media. From video and audio archiving, to filming new footage, and re-mastering Swami Radha’s audio recordings such as Liberation (Click here to download on iTunes). Andrew has worn many hats during his internship and has been an integral member in bringing forward innovative techniques, refining our existing audio & video treasures.

Gef TremblayLightwaves would simply not be without our in-house web master, Gef Tremblay. He has supported our entire electronic infrastructure here at the ashram, and keeps us current with the latest technologies and is always investigating new approaches in the field of programming. A veritable source of information and technological support, Gef’s direction and calm manner have paved the way for further success in 2010.

Blog Action Day 2009In 2009 Lightwaves became much more proactive, joining and bringing awareness to positive online movements that support positive practices and ideals. This summer, we joined over 13,000 blogs on Blog Action Day to discuss a single topic: Climate Change. The video interview that we posted on Lightwaves was selected as one of the ‘Top 7 Videos to Watch’ out of all the posts from the day! Click here to read the article.

On October 24th, we joined a worldwide climate movement led by, to support meaningful climate negotiations by holding our own event in support. Click here to read the article.

In November, we became a partner of the Charter for Compassion; a charter led by religious scholar Karen Armstrong calling for all religious traditions to acknowledge their fundamental roots in compassion. During the week of it’s release, Lightwaves featured several videos from Ashram residents speaking about compassion and spiritual life.

The Yasodhara Ashram website recently underwent re-construction and boasts a much improved user interface. For details of programs, courses, and retreats, as well as historical information about the Ashram and Swami Radha’s teachings, we invite you to visit:
