Baby Krishna, A Christmas Story

December 24, 2009 by Sandra Hindson

GopalaAs editor of Lightwaves I am often looking for new article ideas to bring to you each week.  One morning upon entering Mandala House, Swami Yasodananda was working at a table in the dining room and something drew me to her.  This has been a practice for me, to listen and follow where my intuition leads me.  So I asked her and she said, “what about a good story!” Yes I thought, of course, especially for the Christmas season.

Swami Yasodananda, a long time devotee of Swami Radha’s and Krishna, shares with us a universal story, the story of the god who incarnates as an adorable baby, to rescue human kind from selfishness and greed.  These are the stories of baby Krishna, Gopala, and His mischievous ways and magnificent battles with the demons who occupy our own psyches.  Swami Yasodananda, whose relationship with Krishna deepened through the stories of Him as a baby and youth, uses the symbolic messages as reminders to lift and inspire.  Her interest in storytelling developed while involved in the Toastmasters, Spokane.

From the Lightwaves team here at Yasodhara Ashram, we wish you all a most relaxing and nourishing holiday season filled with Light.  Namaste.
