Coming Full Circle

May 19, 2008 by Lightwaves

maureen.jpg Maureen Wetsch shares her thoughts on receiving and giving in the circle of sustainability.

Wholeness, receptivity, and giving back are just a few words that support my intention for my monthly donation to Yasodhara Ashram. I remind myself every month, through this act of giving, of what I have received. It further serves as a reminder of what in myself I have brought forward. The symbol of the circle is one of wholeness. As I reflect on this and what I have given and received, I learn of my inner balance and cultivate a sense of wholeness within. My monthly donation is simply an external symbol to me for what I offer to this sacred place within, and through this others are able to benefit. While it seems to my mind that $10.80/month is very little, the value of my intention behind this offering is priceless. This captures the teachings of Karma Yoga. The richness is in the intention I set, not in the dollar amount. As I continue to give to the Teachings, the Teachings continue to give and nourish me thus the circle is sustained.

I have been a part of the Circle of Sustainability for over a year. My first introduction to the Ashram was made possible through receiving a bursary to take the 3-month Yoga Development Course. It is through the donations made by people that this bursary was possible. It allowed me to take the time I needed to nurture and learn about myself. After the course I decided to make a monthly donation to the Young Adult Program, a step that has brought me full circle -to experience the very essence of the Circle of Sustainability.

The Circle of Sustainability is a way to sustain Swami Radha’s work and ensure that her teachings carry on in the world. Donations go towards the Ashram’s Young Adult program, Timeless books and ascent magazine, and the Ashram’s sustainability initiatives. 1. Hi Maureen,

It’s lovely to see that you’re still at the Ashram. You radiate light and I enjoyed meeting you last summer during the heat of the garden. Given I’m a northern woman, I don’t like the heat but it was a good lesson for me at an unletting 38+ the entire time.

Keep the light and know that what you are doing is precious and important. I hope to be with the Ashram again soon. Until then, Namaste,
