The Circle Expands

lw_circlepiece.jpgOver 100 people have decided to renounce a few lattees, movies or maybe a dinner out and instead to join Yasodhara Ashram’s Circle of Sustainability.

What is the Circle of Sustainability? It’s an initiative that was introduced at this summers Annual General Meeting as a way to help sustain the Ashram’s work throughout the year. The goal is to have 1000 people making monthly donations of $25 or more to help create a stable source of funds for the Ashram to continue it’s work. This includes offering courses, publications and a light-filled sustainable environment for people to come for renewal and connection with a deeper purpose in life.

Two publications are hot off the press this month from both timeless books and ascent magazine. Circle donations this fall have contributed to the publication of Swami Lalitananda’s new book, The Inner Life of Asanas. The book is arriving at the Ashram Bookstore this week and will be in bookstores everywhere soon. As a36_cover_120.jpgwell, ascent magazine’s latest issue is beautifully designed and written. It focuses on the Elements.

The Circle supports our sustainable living projects as well. Drilling will begin next week for the geothermal heating upgrade to Mandala House, our primary building housing classrooms, dining room, cooking facilities, bookstore and offices.

Another important part of the Circle of Sustainability is the Young Adult Program. Claire Gilmore who is at the Ashram now as a youth program participant has this to say about the program, “Through the classes, reflection and karma yoga that I’ve been involved with, I‘ve been given the opportunity to really look deeply into myself, my inner workings and motivations. I am so grateful for the teachings and the time and space to develop a connection with my inner guide. I am gaining a kind of courage and trust in myself that I’ve never known before. The young adult program is changing the entire way that I relate to myself and the world.”

As we approach the season of celebrating the Light please consider contributing to the Circle of Sustainability by making small monthly donation or a one-time larger donation. It is a way of investing in something that is sustaining us all.
