Professional traveling singer/songwriter/yogini Vanessa Torres recently took time out from touring North America to rest, center, and do some selfless service at the Ashram! Lightwaves presents a recording of a song she wrote while here, “So Hum Siva Hum,” complete with a chorus of Karma Yogis. So Hum Siva Hum

Asked about the experience of recording the song, Vanessa reflected: “It was sort of a culmination of my spiritual development at the Ashram.  It felt really powerful to share that vibration and energy with so many of the people who have been a part of my spiritual community here.”

  1. You guys sound as amazing! Having sung with Vanessa for many years, I know the sound of both her joy, and inspiration. Both are SO present in this recording. What a gift the community has been to her journey and this song. Many blessings!

  2. Wowaweewa,

This story and especially this group photograph of all you Karma Yogi’s in the Beach Prayer room is so light filled and delightful.

Namaste to all of you youth, doing the necessary work, in the moment of the now.

    Beauty shines…

  4. Dear Vanessa,

Holly sent this on to me.
    Beautiful.
A chant I have also chanted in particularly friendly acoustical environments. I didn’t know you were a yogi. I have been for 18+ years.

    Can’t wait to hear more.
    Love
    Melissa

  5. I am lying in bed exhausted from working and just generally feeling a bit sad (what with all the sickness my family members are going through) and I opened my computer after not having done so in nearly a month and I was rewarded with this gorgeous song from the lovely and talented Vanessa Torres. Vanessa and Tamara, you two are the embodiment of selflessness and light. The tour we took with Holly and Melissa et. al was life changing and I am better for having done that and for having met you two and for hearing this beautiful song.
Thank yo for sending it to me.
    Big love to you.

  6. Vanessa – your song is so beautiful and so powerful. Thanks to you and your karma chorus so much for your gifts of heart in song. Siva, please remove our obstacles. Om Namah Sivaya. PS – Vanessa, you sound so much like Joan Baez with your deep resonance of melody and vibration. Please continue to tell your story of spiritual evolution.
