Preparing to Give Back

The Ashram’s 4th annual 108 Sun Salutations fundraiser is approaching, and Ashram residents, guests, and karma yogis are looking towards the event – pledging, gathering pledges, and preparing themselves physically and mentally to participate!

As the event draws nearer, more people are getting inspired and confirming their participation in our 4th annual 108 Sun Salutations fundraiser.  The morning Hatha classes here at the Ashram are beginning to focus on asanas that are a part of the Sun Salutation, (i.e. Downward Dog and Cobra) as well as of course practicing the Sun Salutations themselves.  By working with the poses using Swami Radha’s method of Hidden Language Hatha Yoga, we are limbering up our minds as well as our bodies, preparing for what will be a very focussed morning of practice on January 3rd.

It’s my first time doing this event, and I’m really looking forward to it – I think it will be a good challenge, mentally and physically, and also a stepping-stone to build from in my own practice.” Says Andrew Baerthel, a Young Adult Program participant currently at the Ashram.  “I’ve seen how much I’ve been given as part of the youth program, and I feel good about having the chance to give back to it with this fundraiser.  I like to think of other people coming here in the future and experiencing the same opportunities that I have.”

It’s not too late to get involved with this uplifting event!  You can help support the Young Adult Program by either pledging one of the Ashram’s Young Adults (your donation is tax-deductible and you can either donate online or by contacting the ashram: yashram@yasodhara.org / 1-800-661-8711), or collecting pledges and doing the Sun Salutations wherever you are in the world.  You are also more than welcome to come and do the sun salutations with us in the Radha room!

Visit the Ashram’s website for more information about the 108 Sun Salutations (including downloadable pledge forms and tally sheets) and the Young Adult Program.  If you use facebook, you can keep track of this event on the Yasodhara Ashram fan page.  And if you like, contact lightwaves_editor@yasodhara.org and we can email you a template email which you can personalize and use to ask friends and family for support.
