Digital Prasad – Solstice Meditation

December 24, 2008 by Lightwaves

We celebrate this solstice and the return of the light by offering a slideshow of Ashram winter scenes, accompanied by an instrumental arrangement of the Radha Krishna Prayer, one of Swami Radha’s favourite bhajans.

The translation of the Sanskrit words to the Radha Krishna prayer are Radha’s poetic call of longing to Krishna:

Speak ye, with thy flute in the honey forest.  When thou art silent, then the very world becomes silent.  Every cuckoo by the Jamu River has become silent.  Even the moonlight is pining away for thee in every bower.

Wake a little; O ye, the cuckoos of Braj, wake up!  O cuckoos!  Sing such songs to us so that the forgotten sweet songs of the past may be remembered.  Please remove from me the clouds of miseries and show me the moon who is Krishna.  Have you forgotten the streets of Braj?
