Celebrating 55-years of Swami Radha’s Commitment

February 2, 2011 by Swami Radhananda

Fifty-five years ago, Swami Radha was initiated into Sanyas by Swami Sivananda. Today the Ashram and Radha Centres across the world paused to reflect on and celebrate Swami Radha’s commitment.

To mark this day, we’ve pulled archival footage of Swami Radhananda speaking about Sanyas and Commitment.

  1. Thanks for sharing this. I’m currently working in Bangladesh and it is important for me to stay connected. This is one of the ways.

  2. this talk came at just the right time – but why am i surprised!?

i keep learning from the teachings that “serendipity” is not just chance but rather that paying attention to what is real and what is happening, we can see our lives and our choices with clarity – and take responsibility.

so i suppose it should not come as a surprise that i found myself in jerusalem this morning reading the newspaper about uprisings and change in Egypt and Tunisia, listening to swami radha’s Hari Om, and then finding this edition of lightwaves to play just now.

it seems that the vibration of Hari Om and the teachings offer a frequency to aspire to, work towards, practice daily – in what can often be the turmoil of our inner and our outer lives – at least that is what i am feeling this morning, as i sit in this much-contended city in an unpredictable middle east.

i am very grateful for the teachings,
    thank you,

  3. thanks vanessa. i havent even watched the video yet and your words about the response-abiity to what is real and to what is happening are like a blissful sting to my ears right now: after pain and struggle, the death of resistance to what is sought and longed for. listening requires such a matured surrender, such an embodied equanimity of spirit. a heart that’s found peace and can hold chaos as its child.
