Swami Radhananda’s first two books are in production!  Carried by a Promise: A Life Transformed through Yoga will hit the shelves in January 2011, with Living the Practice: Collected Writings on the Transformative Potential of Yoga to follow later in the year.

Carried by a Promise is Swami Radhananda’s memoir. She tells of her beginning in the women’s movement and her meeting with her woman guru, Swami Sivananda Radha. It is the story of how she gradually united her family life and work with her spiritual life, and how she ultimately evolved into a deeper commitment to become the spiritual leader of Yasodhara Ashram and successor to her guru.

Carried by a Promise speaks of the ancient power of initiation and the results of dedicated spiritual practice. And it illustrates that spiritual life needs to be practical and real, lived in the everyday world of relationship, community and work. Swami Radhananda’s example carries a promise that is open to all of us. She shows us that we, too, can become ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

We know how excited the community is about Swami Radhananda’s upcoming books.  That’s why we’ve put together a few different ways to become involved with the books.

Donate

Swami Radhananda’s goal is to have 100% of the sales of her books go to support the teachings.  To do this, we’ll need to raise $60,000 to cover the costs associated with the books (production, carbon-neutral printing, marketing, author tour, etcetera).

•    Sponsor one of the 35 most commonly used words in the book at www.radhananda.org/donate.

•    We’ve heard from many Radha Centres that they will be raising funds within their communities to help support the books.  Ask at your centre how you can help in your local campaign.

Karma Yoga Opportunities

Visit www.radhananda.org/get-involved to find out how to lend your support—from writing and posting reviews, visiting bookstores, helping to arrange the author tour to buying the book for friends.

This special Thanksgiving weekend also falls on the Global Work Party by 350.org, we’ll be celebrating with the world through karma yoga, launching our post carbon meal initiative, and blessing our sustainable organic garden in gratitude for the abundance. See you Sunday at 10am!

  1. Dear Swami Radhananda
I was in the 10 day course in July this year. It was great to join you via podcast in the Light although it was dark at 5am when I went online. I am joining Angela in December with Elizabeth and Julie, so we will have our own class and Satsang in Wollongong.
I do the Divine Light Invocation and asanas here in Waikanae and go to a yoga class weekly, but I miss the ashram.
    Namaste, Barbara
