Diamond Sparks

poetry from swami radha

April 22, 2010 by Lightwaves

Excerpts from when you first called me radha continues with a reflection on how Swami Radha’s poetry has inspired the Spokane Radha Centre to dance!  “Swami Radha’s poetic voice is infused with the intelligence of a life lived with passion.  This realism is what makes them accessible, practical and also inspiring.” (Clea McDougall)  Satya writes how the dancers in Spokane are accessing the poem, “In My Heart is a Song”, bringing it to a life that resonates in their own hearts.

DIAMOND SPARKS ARE HAPPENING in Radha Center’s sacred dance classes.  The group is creating a dance to Swami Radha’s poem, “In My Heart is a Song” and discovering a natural flow of mudras and movements  as we repeat the words of this poem.   Swami Radha’s depth of feeling comes through the poetry and has touched each of us as we learn to work together and bring forward what we know. One of the dancers, a musician, composed a piece of music for the dance after connecting with the poem on a personal level.

I’ve discovered that the dance is alive and present as the ‘diamond sparks’ in Swami Radha’s poetry. Her words bring me to a place of inner knowing.   The poem and the dance are opening up my own “Heart Song” and giving me a way to express the longing I feel “to be forever with You.”

Audio, In my Heat is a Song

In my heart is a song
that speaks of my dream
to be forever with You.
It speaks of love unknown
beyond all sense perceptions
a longing too deep to be ever
fulfilled by the fleeting moments
I glimpse of You.

When the world sinks around me
the stars’ glimmer brightens
my spirit soars in joy to Your
Heaven, beholding You in delight
and bliss.

The song of my heart
speaks of a thousand hours
in Your presence
vanishing in a few moments.

My song answers Your flute,
Your call to come home
yet I have been a truant
wandering over the world
in search of You.

Now Your maya has lost its
power over me
the pain of your teasing
is ended.
I am at the horizon waiting
for Your chariot to take me home.
